Manhyujeong Pavilion (만휴정)

Manhyujeong Pavilion is the pavilion of Bobaekdang Kim Gye-haeng and was built in 1500. The present building shows a modified appearance through remodeling, and only a part shows the style of the late Joseon dynasty. Kim Gye-haeng was a civil servant in the early Joseon dynasty and held various government posts. However, when he met the tyranny of Yeonsangun, he abandoned the government post and returned to his hometown. After that, a small pavilion was built along Seolmot (currently Sosan 2-ri), but since it was next to the road, he built Manhyujeong Pavilion in a quieter place. If you cross the stream from Mukgyeseowon Confucian Academy and enter the mountain, you can find it located in a magnificent valley that faces southeast and has a waterfall flowing over the rocks.

This is another famous site in Andong that was featured in Season 16 of “I Am Solo.” The Manhyujeong pavilion, which awaits visitors alone in a peaceful forest, and the log bridge, which is the only path leading to the pavilion, seem to represent the participants' feelings.

Andong Market Jjimdak Alley (안동시장 찜닭골목)

Since the 1970s, there has been a chicken alley in Andong Old Market where both raw chicken and fried chicken are sold. But, as seasoned spicy chicken became popular, merchants in the chicken alley needed to find a solution and this is how a fusion dish called Andong jjimdak, or braised chicken, was born. The dish is cooked with the seasoning of braised galbi and boiled down after adding glass noodles and different vegetables. Its sweet and spicy flavors, inexpensive price and abundant amount made the dish an instant hit nationwide, and "Chicken Alley" naturally changed its name to "Jjimdak Alley." Today, there are some 30 stores in business on this street that attract over 20,000 tourists on weekends. Although Andong jjimdak is not a traditional dish that has been passed down for generations, "Suun Japbang" and "Eumsik Dimibang," a pair of the oldest cooking books in Korea, talk about a cooking method that seems similar to that of Andong jjimdak in the Andong region from a long time ago. Andong jjimdak is protein-rich and contains vitamins and various nutrients from different types of vegetables, which makes it a nutritionally sound dish as well.

The movie <Broker> - A meaningful place with a baby box
It is the location where the church scene with the baby box was filmed, and is impressive enough to be the starting point of the story. The name in the play was Busan Family Church. It shows the hilly terrain of Busan well, and the exterior with more than 40 years of history matches the mood of the movie. If you walk down the road, you can see the murals that appeared in the film and the friendly townscape.

Jangjado Island is one of the Gogunsan Islands, and it is called Jangjado because the legend has it that a strong man was born here. Locals say that, when a fishing boat runs into a storm in the sea, it is safe to take shelter on this island, which is why it is also known as a refuge harbor. Jangjado Island is connected to Seonyudo Island by Jangjagyo Bridge.Jangjado Island is located in the very center of all Gogunsan Islands and from the Daejangbong Peak, the 63 Gogunsan Islands unfold before one's eyes like a panorama, making it a popular filming spot chosen by the three broadcasting companies as well as the Corean Alpine Club and the Photo Artists Society of Korea. It offers various leisure activities from a mud flat experience and sea fishing to hiking Daejangbong Peak, which is a famous sunrise and sunset watching spot, and cruise tour of the Gogunsan Islands. There are an abundance of delicious dishes including sliced raw fish, spicy braised seafood, noodle soup with clams and stone crabs, and is home to many other tourist attractions such as Jangjadaegyo Bridge with spectacular sunset view, Jangjahalmeonibawi Rock and Daejangdo Dangje, a type of ritual, which makes it a great destination to visit anytime of the year.

Nongam Head House (농암종택)

This is the head house of Nongam I Hyeon-bo, located in Gasong-gil, Dosan-myeon, Andong-si. I Hyeon-bo served as Saganwonjeongeon in 1504 (the 10th year of Yeonsangun) and was exiled to Andong due to the king's anger. The place where Nongam Head House was located was Buncheon Village, but Buncheon Village was submerged due to the construction of Andong Dam in 1976. Since then, the head house, shrine, and Geunggudang, which had all been relocated to various places in Andong, were moved to one place by I Seong-won, a descendant of the Yeongcheon I family. In 2007, Bungang Confucian Academy was rebuilt and is now called Bungang Village and open to the public.

Seomi Garden (섬이정원)

The Seomi Garden is a formal, natural European garden decorated with old stone walls and ponds of a terraced paddy field, overlooking the beautiful waters of Hallyeohaesang National Marine Park in the South Sea also known as the treasure islands, as well as various herbs and silver grasses growing on the hedges. Just as the walls and gates of a royal palace are both independent and connected at the same time to create spaces, nine small gardens are divided by the concept of rooms by using the x_height differences of the terraced paddy field, and each room has a unique appearance while, sometimes, they all mingle with one another to show different scenery.

Namhae Treasure Island Observatory (남해보물섬전망대)

Namhae Treasure Island Observatory is a structure that embodies a "lighthouse that beautifully lights up Namhae," the southernmost tip of Korea. The 360° panoramic view from inside the building is equivalent to what can be seen from an ultra-luxury cruise ship and is difficult to find anywhere else in the country. From the Skywalk on the second floor, you can walk over the first glass skywalk built in Korea, get a clear view of gorgeous Namhae over a cliff, and enjoy the beautiful sunrise, sunset and moonrise of the South Sea.

Bunsanseong Fortress (김해 분산성)

Bunsanseong Fortress was constructed in the 3rd year of the reign of Goryeo's King U (1377) by Magistrate Park Wi to defend against foreign enemies, but it was destroyed during the Japanese invasion of 1592. The fortress we see today was reconstructed by Magistrate Jeong Hyeon-seok in the 8th year of the reign of Joseon's King Gojong (1871). However, it is estimated that it was first built during the days of Gaya. It is a temoe-style fortress with rocks piled up like a long band at the peak of Bunsan from which downtown Gimhae, Gimhae Plains, the Nakdonggang River and the South Sea are all in a single, panoramic view. Today, fortress walls remain stretching for some 900 meters on the slope towards the city and, inside the fortress, there are two gate sites in the south and north, an auxiliary gate on the west, a well site and several other building sites. The exact length of the remaining fortress walls is 929 meters and the average x_width is about 8 meters.

Inside the fortress lies Haeeunsa Temple, which was built to pay respects to Queen Heo of Garak who had come from the sea, according to stories. The temple also enshrines portraits of King Suro and Queen Heo that were painted during the Joseon dynasty. During the Japanese invasion of 1592, monk soldiers were stationed at this temple.

The fortress is more popularly called "Manjangdae" by Gimhae locals, and this name originated from the description, "A tall tower 10,000 (man) gil in x_height," granted by Daewongun in the Joseon dynasty for this advanced base that defeats Japanese invaders. A writing of "Manjangdae" written by Daewongun himself as well as his stamp are engraved on a rock behind a beacon that was restored in 1999.

Munyeodo Island & Seonyudo Island (무녀도‧선유도)

Munyeodo Island is located approximately 50.8 kilometers southwest of Gunsan-si, and forms the Gogunsan Islands together with Seonyudo, Sinsido, Jangjado, and other islands. Its total area occupies 1.75 square kilometers and its coastline is 11.6 kilometers long. Today, with Seonyudo in the middle, there are bridges installed between Munyeodo and Seonyudo, Seonyudo and Jangjado, and Jangjado and Daejangdo, so visitors are able to walk around as if they are on a single island. Other than Munyeobong Peak (131 meters) on the southwestern part of the island, the region is vast but lacks any tall mountains.

Seonyudo Island is located in the center of the Gogunsan Islands, which consist of about 20 islands, and is approximately 50 kilometers away from Gunsan Port. It is also one of the most popular vacation spots on the entire West Coast.

The location that serves as a basecamp when travelling to Seonyudo and the nearby islands is Jin-ri Village on Seonyudo. It neighbors Seonyudo Beach, which is famously known as ""Myeongsasimni,"" and faces Mangjubong Peak that stands tall like Maisan mountain. The island is crowded with schools, inns, restaurants, bike rental shops, stores, karaokes and campgrounds, which is why the area is a bit boisterous during the vacation seasons. If you wish to escape from such noise, it would be a good idea to rent a bicycle and bike to Munyeodo, Jangjado or Jinwol-ri over Mangjubong Peak.

Seonyudo Island is the home of the 8 Scenic Spots of Seonyu, but the most gorgeous scenery of them all is Mangjubong Peak, which is practically the symbol of the island. Once you climb up to the top, the nearby islands and the sea come together in a cool panoramic view, which also includes the neatly sprawling Myeongsasimni Beach as well as Pyeongsanagan that resembles a seagull landing over the water. The splendid sunset on Seonyudo Island is incredible no matter where you are, whether it'll be atop Mangjubong Peak or Seonyudo Beach.
