Yongmasan Mountain (용마산)

With an altitude of 348 meters, Yongmasan Mountain is the highest peak of Achasan Mountain. The mountain stretches through the ridges of Manguri Park and Junggok-dong, with trails connecting to Achasan Mountain Fortress and the back gate of Children’s Grand Park. Nearby parks include Yongmapokpo Park and Yongmasan Sagajeong Park.

Tomb of General Gwon Yul (권율장군묘)

General Gwon Yul (1537-1599) is a historic figure from the Joseon dynasty. He is celebrated for repelling the invading Japanese forces at Haengjusanseong Fortress and other locations near Seoul during the Japanese Invasion of Korea (1592-1598). In front of the tomb stands a tombstone, flanked by pairs of stone statues. These pairs consist of Sangseok, Hyangnoseok, Dongjaseok, Muninseok, and Mangjuseok, with one statue from each pair positioned on the left and the other on the right, respectively. The site also includes the tombs of his father and older brother. His descendants continue to visit and commemorate him to this day.

Bukhansanseong Fortress (북한산성)

First built in 132 during the Baekje era (18 BC-AD 660) under King Gaeru's reign, Bukhansanseong Fortress was the northernmost fortress that protected Baekje from Goguryeo's forces. In the year 475, the fortress fell in the hands of Gogyuryeo after a fierce battle. As a result, King Gaeru was killed and Baekje's princess fled to Ungjinseong Fortress. Despite the fortress' collapse and reconstructions, Bukhansanseong Fortress continued to play an important role in protecting the capital city throughout Korea's history of war.

Hongneung Arboretum was the first arboretum in Korea, established in 1922 when experimental forests were built on Hongneung Royal Tomb, the burial mound of Queen Myeong-Seong. Bukhansan Mountain was officially designated as a national park in 1983. Bukhansan National Park covers both Bukhansan and Dobongsan Mountains, and spans a total area of 80.699 ㎢. At the top of Bukhansan Mountain are Baegundae Terrace (835.6 m), Insubong Peak (810.5 m) and Mangyeongdae Terrace (799.5 m), which gave the mountain the nickname "Samgaksan" or the "three-horned mountain." The mountain had other names: Sambongsan (mountain with three peaks), Hwasan (flower mountain), and Buaak (mountain shaped like a person giving a baby a piggyback ride). The current name, Bukhansan, was given after the Bukhansanseong Fortress was built under King Sukjong of the Joseon dynasty.
