Gyeonggi Provincial Museum was established for the purpose of inheriting and developing the history and traditional culture of Gyeonggi-do. Wolhwawon Garden is nestled in Hyowon Park of Suwon and features elements that are heavily influenced by Chinese culture. The garden was established as a result of a special memorandom of agreement (MOU) signed in 2003 between the provincial governments of Gyeonggi-do in Korea and Guangdong in China, in appreciation of the two city's cooperative relationship. It boasts traditional gardens and architecture, man-made lakes and waterfalls designed in the Cantonese style.

Nam June Paik Art Center opened in October 2008 after the proposal of building an art center began in 2001. The art center, known as the “House where Nam June Paik lives on,” was designed with the artist's works and research in mind. Hwahongmun Gate refers to the northern gate of Hwaseong Fortress among the two main gates installed to control the flow of Suwoncheon Stream that cuts through the fortress. Hwahongmun Gate consists of seven arched watergates in varying sizes. The watergate at the center is larger than the others to control the water flow effectively.

Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion stands looking over the Hwahongmun Gate and Yongyeon Pond and is a place where the aspirations of King Jeongjo live on. Suwon Hwaseong Fortress has a total of four pavilions, and Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion is located on the northwestern side of the fortress. The fortresses were built to act as a watchtower for keeping an eye on outside invasion, with Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion being located at the most strategic point. Although it was built as a military watchtower, it was designed to also act as a pavilion, and Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion was recognized as a National Treasure in 2011 for outstanding techniques and aesthetics that represent the Joseon dynasty in the 18th century.
