The first naengmyeon restaurant to open in Hwapyeong-dong did so in the early to mid-70s. It wasn't until the early 2000's that the area saw an influx of over 20 naengmyeon restaurants. These days, visitors can choose from 13 restaurants. In the beginning, the servings here were all the standard found anywhere else in Korea. However, many of the factory workers in the area would come here, and ask for additional servings during their lunch break. Eventually, the restaurants began to serve larger sizes, naturally leading to the use of a large bowl to one similar to what people would use when washing their faces. Another specialty of the naengmyeon here is the addition of yeolmu kimchi (young summer radish kimchi). Many restaurants also offer free, unlimited refills on noodles.

Ginkgo Tree at the Fortress Well Site refers to the old ginkgo tree, which have been designated as a protected tree in 1988, located in Gayang-dong, Gangseo-gu in Seoul. Until the Gayang apartment complex was built, the area where the ginkgo tree is located was a historic place with a beautiful landscape and many anecdotes and legends. Before the Goryeo dynasty, its location served as an important strategic point along the lower part of the Hangang River, where it had a ferry dock with boats that bypassed Haengju and Paju as a shortcut for commuting between Kaeseong and Pyongyang, and is associated with many legends of historical figures who had used the dock. The ginkgo tree also appears in a painting drawn by Gyeomjae Jeongseon, a historic painter of the Joseon dynasty.

Yackseokwon offers immunity-strengthening programs using this special herb believed to help prevent chronic illnesses. “Raise Your Body Temperature by 1°C Project” is a signature course, which involves yoni steaming (mugwort steam sitting bath) and thermal moxibustion to gradually warm the body. Just an increase of 1 degree in body temperature is said to boost immune function, increase basal metabolism, and improve blood circulation. The program is offered by reservation only and accommodates up to 25 people per session. The 100-minute experience begins with 40 minutes of yoni steaming, followed by 30 minutes of abdominal heat therapy and 30 minutes of lower back heat therapy. Participants are also served a rich herbal tea brewed with Ganghwa Sajabalssuk.
