Zorro is a masked hero who has captivated audiences around the world for many years. The original story is based on Isabel Allende’s Zorro, which tells the tale of Diego, a free-spirited Spanish nobleman who dons a mask to fight for justice and avenge his father. The story has already proven its popularity through numerous film and TV drama adaptations, and the musical is no exception. When it premiered in London’s West End in 2008, it broke box office records within its first week.
Zorro: Actor-Musician is an interpretation of the 2008 musical Zorro, featuring actors who not only dance and act but also perform live music on stage. With music by the band Gypsy Kings, flamenco choreography, and thrilling sword fights, the show keeps a high-energy pace from start to finish. The casting of Zorro is also noteworthy, with MJ from the idol group Astro and Mingyu from DKZ playing the roles of Diego and Zorro. MJ made his musical debut in 2020 with Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and has since appeared in Jack the Ripper and Winter Journey. Mingyu has been building his reputation as a musical actor since his role in The Three Musketeers in 2022. Both are standout vocalists from their respective groups and showcase their versatility by playing various instruments, including the violin and trumpet, in this production.
